I like the look/price of the 150-600 sigma. How would the sigma at 600 compare to canon at 400 cropped? would the sigma be a lot better? My 70-200/2.8L IS II + 2x TC III at f/6.3 is as good as the 400/5.6 at f/5.6. The Sigma C out-resolves it at f/7.1, but only if other sources of blur (out-of-focus blur and motion blur) are virtually absent.
The Canon extenders have a nose that needs to be dealt with. Since you've got the camera and lens give it a try - carefully.

I am also considering getting the new Tamron 150-600 lens, pending reviews. I was just curious if a Canon extender, specifically the canon EF 2X III, will work on the Tamron and/or Sigma lenses. Note that I currently own the Sigma 1.4x teleconverter but I'm not very happy with its IQ. sigma.

Sigma 150-600 Sports vs Canon 100-400 II. Jun 3, 2015. The Sigma 150-600 Sports has that extra 200mm and boy is it sharp. Any time I take a photo with this beast it seems very sharp to me. Its handheld stabilization is simply amazing. Ive been told the Canon 100-400 II is sharper and has wider apertures throughout the range.
Here's where I'm coning from. I have a Canon T7 with the 75-300 lens. Some of you will recall I had inquired about the Sigma 150-600 lens. I was browsing through Lenses and found a conversation that mentioned keeping a lens that goes to 300mm and getting a converter. Canon's converter is cheaper than buying a new Sigma 150-600 lens.
