Nov 26, 2020 @ 2:11pm I had the issue that the game was opening much much larger than my screen (I have multiple monitors in a weird configuration. the muddle one is horizontal and the two side ones are vertical and perhaps the game was caluclated (max height)x(max width) which is stupid!) anyways, the suggestion below helped me to quickly fix it.

It's not just a matter of launching the simulator with or without STEAM running in the background (BTW, I use ETS2 on a Mac, so things are even a little bit different from Windows OS, I guess). It's not just that. It's MAINLY that I cannot run the simulator if and when Steam application itlself has some problems, like just a couple of days ago
Open the Logitech Profiler. Select New > Profile. Add eurotrucks2.exe as a new game. Open Specific Game Settings. Leave force feedback settings alone. Check ‘Use Special Steering Wheel Settings’. Set ‘Degrees of Rotation’ to 900. Start game and use the ‘Input Wizard’ as shown below.

This game is just allergic to Alt-tabbing, or any other method to swtiching to the desktop during fullscreen mode. Control + Alt + Delete broken as well.
