Flip burger over and cook until the internal temperature reaches 161 degrees F (72 degrees C). Put it on a bun or eat it like a steak. You can grill these on a gas grill, charcoal grill, electric grill (think George Foreman), or in a skillet on your stove. The box recommends cooking them at 325 degrees or medium heat.
Dimpling the Patty. After shaping the patty. Use your finger to make a ¼ to ½ inch deep belly button in the middle on one side of the patty. This prevents the burger from puffing up on the grill, resulting in a burger ball instead of a burger patty. ( Gordon Ramsay isn’t always perfect.
Preheat smoker to 225°. Patty out burgers – with one pound, sometimes I make 3 thicker burgers and sometimes I make 4 thinner. Either way, the cook time will be the same. Salt and pepper the tops of your burgers. You can salt/pepper as desired.
Pellet Usage When Smoking/Grilling A Burger. Generally, Camp Chef pellet grills at lower smoking temperatures will consume between 1 to 2 lbs of pellets per hour. When grilling, pellet usage can jump up to 3 to 4 lbs per hour. When smoking burgers, the total cook time will go up to maybe 45 minutes.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, carefully lay the seasoned patties in the skillet, leaving space between each one. Smoke the Burgers for Two Hours. Set your pellet grill (Traeger, Z Grills, Pit Boss, etc) to 180F using hickory pellets. The low temperature will give the burger a longer cook time inside the smoker. The gentle heat will prevent the patty from swelling up in the middle.It can’t be a one-person show, so if you’re worried about the time it takes to cook and prepare, don’t be afraid to ask for help. It might also be helpful for a large group to have more than one grill going. Have a friend bring a charcoal or portable grill so you can put out fresh burgers even faster. 5. Have Sides! 3.
